While going through Chemo or Radiation:

WE HATE GERMS!

WE DO NOT WANT TO BE NEAR GERMS!

WE MUST PROTECT OURSELVES AGAINST GERMS!

WASHING OUR HANDS!
We need to wash our hands whenever we:
Go out in public, such as the grocery store.
Touch a sick person or something that person has touched.
Touch the outside of fruit or vegetables.
Get slimed by a small snot-nosed child.
Pet a dog, cat or other animal.
Touch something filthy.
Empty the trash.

WEARING A MASK
We need to wear a mask whenever we:
Go out in public, such as the drug store!
There is a sick family member at home.
Sit in the waiting room at the Doctor's office.
Take public transportation of any kind.
Walk through the hospital.

TRAINING FAMILY MEMBERS
We need to help our family members be germ-free.
Have your child(ren) wash up when they get home from school.
Ask all family members to sneeze far away from you.
Ask all family members to throw away their used Kleenex.
Have other family members feed and clean up after your pets.
Ask family members to stay away from you when they are sick.
Ask Family members to
take out the trash.

WEARING GLOVES
We need to wear gloves whenever we:
Wash fruit or vegetables.
Cut fruit or vegetables.
Wash the dishes.
Empty the trash.

AVOIDING FLIES
We need to keep flies away from our food!
Flies poop every 20 seconds!
Flies enjoy landing on food.
Flies are annoying!
Flies hate fly swatters!
Buy a fly swatter!

FEAR OF INFECTIONS
We need to avoid infections!
Watch for a temperature of 101 or more!
Watch for chills with a fever.
Use Neosporin on all cuts and scrapes.
Wipe your hands with clean towels or dish cloths.
Be extra germ-aware after chemo, when your WBC counts are low.

GERM PARANOIA
We do not need to feel guilty for being obsessive about germs!

We must remind ourselves that our obsessive germ avoidance is temporary!
We must not let healthy people's uneducated germ remarks unnerve us.
We must remember that our germ awareness can only help save our lives!

GERMS IN CYBERSPACE
One of the best things about being on the net is that it is germ-free!
We can go online no matter how low our WBC count gets!
We can all feel free and equal in cyberspace!

ONE DAY WE WILL WALK AGAIN AMONG GERMS, AND FEEL CAREFREE!

NOTE: These germ suggestions are not for the average healthy individual, but for those going through chemo, radiation or are otherwise immune suppressed. Everyone is at a different risk level, and the information above should be digested accordingly. All the germ information on this page has been tested by the webmaster during treatment, and has been sanitized for your protection.
