July - August 1998 Updates!

A Note About These Missing months

I was not able to update my site during these past two months, and here is a short synopsis of my whereabouts during that time.

July, 1998
Not only did the eventful day of my 8th wedding anniversary appear during this month, but so did the day that I left my husband and became officially separated. And yes, for those of you who have followed my story, I was actually married during my cancer days. Where was he? Well, let's just say that he gave me up for dead and hibernated in a darkened room on the other side of the house in a pool of self pity. It was the best he could do, and leaving him was the only smart and self respectful thing that I could do. I can forgive, but being the visual person that I am, I cannot seem to forget. I left the day after our anniversary, July 8th.

August, 1998
I began a new job at Varian, the people who make the radiation machines that helped me save my life. I am their corporate web person, at least for the time being. You see, after 50 years of business, Varian has decided to split into 3 separate and stronger entities, which means that my Varian future there has no definitive place just yet. Who would like to make a bet that I fit in there somewhere?

So, the gist of all this is that I am now a cancer surviving, single working mom with the world at her fingertips! Try and beat that!

September, 1998
This month I have done two things, work and spend time with Brittany. Work, Brittany, rest, work, Brittany, rest, work, Brittany rest. Oops that is three things. Adjusting to single momhood mixed with survivorhood has been a multi-faceted job, one that has alternately fueled and zapped my energy. I have decided that this is my year of uncertainty, change, learning new skills, meeting new people, and molding my future. I shall enjoy it!
